Epic Universe is Universal Orlando’s newest theme park. It is an incredible immersive experience that offers people the chance to connect to their fandoms in new and exciting ways with 5 portals that represent different lands. One of the most beautiful portals within Epic Universe (in my opinion) is Isle of Berk.
This portal in Epic Universe is based on the movie and book series, How to Train Your Dragon. When we visited this portal back in August, it completely took my breath away. Outfits for Epic Universe - Isle of Berk
While I could brag all day about how stunning this part of the theme park is, I also have to warn you that it’s a bit hot. If you are like us and like to theme your outfits around your favorite fandoms on vacation, How to Train Your Dragon poses a bit of a challenge. Vikings wear a lot of fur and leather, and the Florida heat doesn’t always allow for outfits with layers.
So, we’ve planned some looks that are themed, yet still practical for a day at Epic Universe and Isle of Berk. Our goal is always to bring inspiration, so don’t forget to shop your closet before you shop these looks! Astrid Bound Outfit for Isle of Berk at Epic Universe
Bounding as your favorite character is not just for Disney. We wanted to recreate Astrid’s look, but make it park-friendly during the summer heat. The pleated brown athletic skirt creates the illusion of some of Astrid’s armor without adding heavy pieces of metal. We didn’t want to lose the skull details of her skirt in the movie, so we added them through other accessories like the ring and purse. Adding in faux fur details was the trickiest part to this look, but you can search Etsy for some earrings that work best for you.
Toothless Outfit for Isle of Berk at Epic Universe
Meeting Toothless was one of the best moments I have ever experienced in a theme park. And let me tell you, he is flattered when he sees himself on a shirt. This outfit is perfect for staying comfortable and getting a personal moment with the most handsome Dragon on Berk. We updated this look from a previous version we styled on our Epic Universe Blog, but you can view that outfit here.
Dragon Outfit for Isle of Berk at Epic Universe
If you are wanting a little bit of a subtle, feminine look to show off your love for dragons, we have you covered. While Vikings are typically covered in color schemes of black and brown, the dragons are bright and bold. Stormfly’s blue was the inspiration behind this dress, and we kept it simple with small touches of dragon accessories. What we love most about this outfit is that most of the pieces can be worn outside of Epic Universe, especially the leather fanny pack!
Boho Viking Outfit for Isle of Berk at Epic Universe
Let’s call this outfit, “If I were a Viking” 😂. I wanted to plan an outfit that felt a little more modern, but would still fit within Berk’s theming. Creating a boho chic outfit for Berk may seem like a stretch, but somehow these two eras fit together quite nicely. The color scheme fits beautifully within Isle of Berk, and the Viking accessories help tie it all together. This top is also a perfect transition piece for summer to fall!
What I Wore to Isle of Berk at Epic Universe
When I started planning my outfit for our vacation to Epic Universe, I wanted an outfit that would look cute in both Isle of Berk and Super Nintendo World. Knowing I would be taking a lot of photos in both of the portals that didn’t have any connection, I knew I had to find a color that would work in both places.
Between Toothless’s eyes and Yoshi, I landed on green. I also wanted something
fun, girly, and wouldn’t make me melt in the August heat. Some of you might notice a few of my staples, like my Vessi shoes and my go-to Lapelling mini pin backpack. We even linked a few pins to get you started.

For some sun protection, I went with this green linen button-up, which was very cool and comfortable. You might notice the hat is different in the look versus my photo. This is because I didn’t listen to my own advice, which is…purchase everything you want a month in advance of your trip. I purchased this incredible custom hat from On the Map Hats at the very last second, and even though Jared went above and beyond to get it to me, UPS had other plans. So, this beauty never made it to Berk, which is tragic because it’s amazing. So, hopefully you can grab it and give it the love it deserves.
