Aloha! We are here to walk you through one of Walt Disney World’s Character Dining experiences, ‘Ohana! Character dining is a unique and special way to interact with your favorite characters while enjoying a delicious meal, all without having to have a park reservation!
Lauren and I were lucky enough to eat here during our stay in January of 2023. We’ll break down the food, the characters, and of course, what to wear!
‘Ohana Information - How to Get There
‘Ohana is located inside Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. The restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner, but the characters are only available for breakfast! Characters for this meal include:
During your meal, characters will come over to your table and meet with you. You can take photos and ask them to sign your autograph books. A few times during the hour they also do a cute dance around the restaurant. And you can't beat the views!
This is a perfect way to spend your morning on a rest day of your vacation. If you’re wanting to stay at the Polynesian on your vacation, make sure to check out David’s DVC Rentals. It is a great way to save money on this deluxe resort. You do not have to be a DVC member in order to rent points, anyone can do it!
If you’re staying elsewhere on property, the best way to get to this resort is going to be hopping on a bus to the Magic Kingdom. From there, you can either walk, take a boat, or ride the monorail to the resort. You can of course always order an Uber or a Minnie Van too!
Â
‘Ohana Pricing & Food
Currently, the pricing for the meal is $53 per adult and $33 per child (ages 3-9), plus tax and gratuity. This is an all-you-care-to-enjoy meal, so you may ask your server for as many refills as your stomach desires.
Allergy-friendly and plant-based options are available at this meal, just let your server know! You can explore the full meal here.Â
Once you are seated, you are greeted with a delicious pineapple breakfast bread, fruit, coffee, and, of course, the famous POG juice. Everything is served family-style, and our server did a wonderful job of refilling our plates when we needed more.Â
The main course is a breakfast skillet, which consists of scrambled eggs, pork breakfast sausage links, Hawaiian-style ham topped with pineapple compote, fried island style potatoes, and biscuits. And no breakfast character meal is complete without Mickey shaped waffles. However, some of our waffles also had little pictures of Stitch!
Overall, it’s a good breakfast. Personally, I am not a breakfast person, but Lauren and the rest of our group really enjoyed the meal. It’s a lot of food, so you won’t leave hungry.Â
What to Wear
Dressing up for this meal can be part of the fun! Lauren and I were headed to Animal Kingdom after our meal, so we didn’t get a chance to theme our looks, but we have put together some choices for you based on the characters here.Â
Lilo Outfit
‘Ohana is the only place within Walt Disney World that you can actually meet Lilo. She is not a regular inside any of the parks. You can sometimes catch her at a special event, such as extra magic hours or parties, but it is very rare and that comes at an additional cost and isn’t guaranteed.Â
Due to her rare appearance, we wanted to create a special look for her. We wanted her red dress to be the center of attention, and we styled two options for you. One is a little more elevated, and one is a little more casual. You can easily mix and match the accessories to your preference. The plumeria crossbody is an excellent way to tie in the theme of the morning, however, it is a bit pricey. We will link a similar option below! `
Stitch Outfit
If you are a Stitch fan, this is also one guaranteed way to meet him. You can sometimes see Stitch in Tomorrowland. He will stand on stage and interact, but he doesn’t typically sign autographs or have an official meet there.
We’ve also spotted him at Typhoon Lagoon. But, if you’re looking to have a one-on-one interaction with this beloved character, this is the way to do it.Â
For this look, we wanted a playful spin, as Stitch is known for mischief and fun. We fell in love with these pants and wanted to incorporate them into the look. These pants have been going in and out of stock, so a pair of blue palazzo pants would also work if you can’t grab these. We love the Lilo and Stitch rocket crossbody and played into those colors. On the right side, we went with the more traditional blues of Stitch, but we think he will approve of either choice!Â
Mickey Outfit
While you can meet Mickey at any of the four Walt Disney World parks, this is the only place you can meet him in his adorable Hawaiian attire!Â
We wanted to emulate this outfit, so we styled it with a skirt that is very similar to his shirt. Instead of wearing a lei around your neck, we tied in the flowers to the earrings and the headband.
You can easily mix and match accessories here. We were disappointed by the lack of plus-size options for the skirt, but we were able to find an option with some fun wide leg pants. The crossbody shown is a Disney Japan exclusive, which can again be pricey on eBay, but our mini backpack is a great alternative!Â
Pluto Outfit
Pluto can sometimes be hard to track down, so if you have a Pluto fan in your group, this is a wonderful way to interact with him.
Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom typically have Pluto meet and greets, but dining here guarantees your time with him without waiting in line!
This outfit is inspired by the breakfast Hawaiian theme and Pluto’s traditional colors of yellow and green. We also wanted to style a more casual option for this experience in case you are headed to the parks after your meal. The Florida sun can be brutal, so we styled this look with hats, bike shorts, and a tank if your Disney adventures take you outside the rest of your day. This look would also be cute with an athletic dress if you wanted to dress it up a bit!
All in all, this was a good experience for us. We liked the blend of a traditional breakfast with a Hawaiian twist. More recently, we’ve heard of the service being off as far as Disney standards go, so just remember that each dining experience can vary.Â
We hope that this has been helpful. Be sure to tag us on social media at @ouawardrobe if you wear any of these looks! If you are looking for even more outfit ideas for your Disney vacation, check out our custom services to see how we can help style you and your entire family.Â
And remember, theme park fashion doesn’t have to be complicated, it just has to make you smile!Â
