Disney's Jollywood Nights Outfit Guide

If you’ve ever wanted to experience Disney with all the holiday glitz & glamour, then Disney’s Jollywood Nights is for you! This special ticketed after-hours event at Hollywood Studios runs from November 9th through December 21st and is very different from Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party over at Magic Kingdom. It includes over 20 character experiences, special photo opportunities, entertainment, exclusive dining and snack options, and a treat on your way out of the park. There are also new additions this year that include what Disney describes as a “skating spectacular”. And, of course, select attractions such as Rise of the Resistance are open for you to enjoy. The party runs from 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., but you can get into the park as early as 6:00 p.m.

We attended the party last year if you would like to read about our experience. It was the party’s first year, and it definitely had some bumps in the road, but we are hopeful that this year will be different, as Disney collected a lot of guest feedback from the party attendees last year. We would also like to point out that while this is not an adults-only party, it is definitely catered more towards adults. If you have little ones and are wanting to attend a Disney holiday party, we would highly recommend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party over Jollywood Nights, as it provides much more activities and special offerings that are geared towards the kiddos.

But, one of our absolute favorite parts about Jollywood Nights was the fashion. While dressing up for Disney has always been part of the fun, this vintage-inspired party takes it to a whole new level. In fact, Disney encourages their guests to dress to the nines for this event!

My outfit for the event was inspired by my love of thrifting and pulling together outfits from my closet. I don’t always purchase new items for Disney trips, but I did end up buying the polka dot pants and my headband, which I actually picked up from Walmart! Everything else was thrifted, borrowed, or I already owned it! My style is pretty eclectic, and I love mixing patterns.

So, we are going to break down outfit ideas and themes that will help you prepare for this holiday party! We’ve got outfit ideas for guys, gals, couples, and besties. If you are wanting a completely customized outfit for this occasion, you can book a look with us! We’ll plan and style an outfit from head to toe that’s unique to you.

Kermit and Miss Piggy Outfits

The absolute highlight of this event for us was the show, Disney’s Holidays in Hollywood. Hosted by the one and only Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog, this show at the Theatre of the Stars is an ode to classic holiday radio shows and jazz. It is not to be missed!

Last year, we were fortunate enough to plan outfits for some clients who were fellow Muppet fans and wanted outfits that represented Kermit and Miss Piggy. They couldn’t decide which characters they wanted to be, so we planned one for each person! They wanted to match Kermit and Miss Piggy’s outfits that were used in the promotion for the show last year, which included lots of red, golds, and of course green for Kermit.

For Piggy’s dress option, we really wanted to stay true to her outfit during the show, while adding some touches of champagne to the belt and accessories. Since Kermit’s outfit for the show is very simple and is just a red scarf, we decided to use inspiration from one of our favorite Christmas movies, A Muppet Christmas Carol. The pants and hat reminded me of what Kermit wore as Bob Cratchet.

On the reverse option, we went full-on suit for Miss Piggy! Top hat included, this suit was the perfect choice to channel her look from the show. For Kermit, we still went glam by bringing in big sparkly jewelry, pieces and velvets. And while we like to opt for different headpieces other than ears for this event, these ears were too perfect to pass up!

Princess Tiana Outfits

The Muppets are not the only reason to see the Holidays in Hollywood show. Princess Tiana performs some classic Christmas tunes with a bit of a jazz twist. She was my favorite musical performer and looked stunning in a vintage silhouette dress.

We had a repeat client reach out for a Tiana-inspired look for the night last year. She wanted to embrace the 1920’s vibes of Tiana’s character. One option we did for her was a bit of DisneyBound to Tiana’s iconic white flapper dress, but added some small touches of winter accessories to keep with the holiday theme. The other look was inspired by her classic green colors, but kept the vintage vibes with the fit of the dress and gloves. We also added a fun fascinator to the mix to give it a festive flair. The earrings were our favorite touch, as they reminded us of Ray.

Nightmare Before Christmas Outfits

Another spot for exclusive entertainment is Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-Along at the Hyperion Theater. You’ll encounter a life-sized Jack Skellington as he greets you for this show. We love how this movie makes a special appearance for the holiday season, as it’s one of our favorites. And yes, we watch it for both Halloween and Christmas! So we thought it would be fun to create a couple of outfits based around this theme in case there were any other Nightmare Before Christmas fans who wanted to take these characters to a dapper level.

The first look is inspired by the Pumpkin King himself, Jack Skellington. We wanted to create a look that had some holiday touches, like bows and wreaths, but give it a darker touch. For the pants look, we kept it a little more classic with a pinstripe button-up and Jack suspenders. These looks work together or on their own!

There are hints of Jack within this dress look with the stripes and skeleton hand hair clips, but this is really a nod to the toys from Nightmare Before Christmas. We loved the Nightmare Teddy Crossbody bag for the spookier side, but softened it a bit with the holiday sparkle on the gloves and heart earrings, as Jack’s intentions were to bring joy! But, we can’t forget the Mayor. His outfit is already dapper, so we just added fun accessories to tie it all together.

Gingerbread Dreams & Ice Princess Outfits

Last year, Disney introduced us to Ollie the Gingerbread Man. There isn’t a lot of Ollie merchandise just yet, but there are plenty of options when it comes to cute Disney gingerbread items. For this look, we stuck with a vintage style fit & flare dress and paired it with a mixture of peppermint and gingerbread accessories. Also, we really love a beret as a choice for hair accessories. It really brings a chic element to the look!

Disney is introducing a new feature this year to Jollywood Nights that’s only being described as a “skating spectacular”. We don’t have a lot of details on this yet, but we of course already have an outfit idea planned for it! This one is for all the pastel holiday fans. Light pinks and blues help create this winter-centered outfit. We love this one because if you swap out some of the accessories, you can add a lot of this look to your everyday wardrobe.

Classic Santa Mickey Outfits

And finally, a Disney party look wouldn’t be complete without a classic Mickey look. We are suckers for sequins during the holidays. The Peter Pan collar is a separate piece from the sweater, so if you already own a black shirt or short sleeve sweater, you can just add this to give your top a little pop! We chose a black shirt to break up the traditional contrast of the red and green Christmas colors, but white would absolutely work here too. We would save this look for maybe later into the season, as it can still be quite warm in Florida during the holiday season, and pants might be a little hot at the beginning of November, but you never know.

One final tip we want to point out is to wear comfortable shoes. In all of these outfits we’ve shared, we wanted to find a balance between style and comfort. Dressing up is 100% part of the fun, but you don’t want to be miserable 30 minutes into the event. There is a lot to explore, so if you do buy some new shoes, please break them in at least a month before your date! You won’t be putting in a full day at the parks, but you will be doing a lot of walking and most definitely, standing.
