If you’re headed on a Disney Alaskan Cruise, you’re probably thinking about all the incredible adventures, sights, and food you’re about to experience. But as Alaskan cruise season kicks off, you might also start thinking (or panicking) about what to pack and wear.

I remember I started to spiral somewhere around May for our June Alaskan cruise. Of course it had been in the back of my mind, but I was too busy thinking about glacier views and whale watching, not how many layers I needed to pack for 7 days.
So if you’re like me, frantically worrying or waiting until the last minute to pack for your Disney Alaskan cruise, I have created a quick guide on what to wear. I have put together some basics to pack, as well as suggestions based on port days.

Before we get started, I want to throw a disclaimer out that…weather changes. I have based these outfits around our June trip and have attempted to modify them around Alaska’s average temperatures. I always suggest shopping your closet first, but if you’re interested in grabbing any items we discussed, they will all be linked for your convenience. You can also check out our vlog if you want to see our adventures first-hand.
Disney Alaskan Cruise Packing Basics

If you’re trying to keep it basic, my recommendation is:
3 pairs of pants (one pair of jeans, one pair of leggings, and one pair of water-resistant bottoms)
2 short sleeve tees
2 long sleeve tees
2 sweatshirts/sweaters
2 layering pieces
1 beanie
1 set of gloves
1 waterproof jacket
1 purse/bag
1 pair of waterproof tennis shoes
Disney has self-service laundry rooms on board, as well as the option of stateroom pickup service. This can just be a starting point for you, and you can add or eliminate options based on your vacation. I actually ended up packing three pairs of shoes because we had reservations at Palo and plans to go hiking, so this can vary based on your plans and excursions.
Jackets and Coats for Disney Alaskan Cruises
I can only speak from experience from our June cruise, but I do not think you need a thick, large, parka type of coat for your cruise. Packing a lined, waterproof jacket should be enough with your layers and cold weather accessories. Here are some packable options that might be best for your trip.

Disney Cruise Outfit for Glacier Day
Glacier Day was so special on our Disney Alaskan Cruise. We did get on the deck early to make sure we met Mickey first thing in the morning, and it was cold and windy, but they do pass out hot chocolate while you wait! Dress warm and have fun with this outfit, as you will get some amazing photos!

Disney Cruise Outfit for Skagway, Alaska
On our June cruise, Skagway was the coldest stop. The wind was brutal at times, so our hats, gloves, and fleece-lined leggings came in handy that day. While the ship does dock right next to the town, it’s still about a half mile walk to get there, so prepare for the cold on your walk.

Disney Cruise Outfit for Juneau, Alaska
Our day in Juneau was pretty wet and chilly. We had a full day of excursions, and I was happy to have packed my water-resistant pants and hiking boots, as our first excursion was a sled dog musher’s camp through the Tongass National Forest and it was very muddy.

Disney Cruise Outfit for Ketchikan, Alaska
Ketchikan was by far the warmest city on our Disney Cruise. It was overcast, but still around 60 degrees. The lumberjack show is definitely the most popular excursion here, so I added a graphic lumberjack Mickey tee and, of course, a flannel shirt if you wanted to tie in the theme here.

Day at Sea Outfit for a Disney Alaskan Cruise
These days are relaxed and fun to lean into a Disney Cruise theme vibe. It was cold on our way to Alaska on our Day at Sea and near 70 on our way back to Vancouver. We kept it cozy and comfortable on both days as we explored the ship and took in all the sights one last time.
Honorable Mentions
If you happen to have any extra room in your luggage, dressing up for themed nights can be fun. Both the Disney Wonder and the Disney Magic have Animator’s Palate where a certain sorcerer mouse makes an appearance. The Disney Wonder also has Tiana’s Place with live entertainment and a Mardi Gras celebration.

The Disney Magic has Rapunzel’s Royal Table, but I have not personally been on this ship, so I cannot speak from experience.
All in all, it’s hard to not overpack for this trip, but hopefully this has helped give you a better perspective on what it can look like for your vacation. It’s truly one of the most magical vacations I have ever been on, so don’t let the stress of packing ruin this trip of a lifetime.

As always, let me know if you have any questions. And remember, theme park (or cruise) fashion doesn’t have to be complicated, it just has to make you smile.
