Disney’s Animal Kingdom has become one of our favorite theme parks. Yes, we absolutely love the animals here, but what really keeps us coming back is the food, culture, and entertainment. What was once deemed a half day park has now become one that we devote an entire day to and still don’t get to see everything we want.
But of course, as magical outfit planners, we also love styling outfits for Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We’ve been so fortunate over the years to have planned many outfits for clients headed to this theme park. Of course we love animal prints and safari chic looks, but there are so many other themes to wear here as well! So, we’ve put together 5 outfits based on other themes around Animal Kingdom. Dinosaurs
Listen, we know there is A LOT of chatter going around about the fate of DinoLand USA. But until they officially demolish this land, we think dinosaurs are a great outfit theme for Animal Kingdom.
DinoLand USA has so many adorable photo ops. This land is filled with bright colors and lights. From life-sized dinosaurs to Daisy’s meet and greet area, you’ll find lots of colors and reasons to snap photos within this section.
Which is why we chose to style this outfit bright and bold while giving credit to one of the best/worst rides at Animal Kingdom, DINOSAUR. This dark ride is so much fun and we love all the nostalgia that it brings with it. However, if you are over the age of 30, it might also give you a headache. 😆
Update: We now know the fate of this land, however we still feel like this outfit will work even once it's gone! Plus there is still plenty of time to head to the parks and ride this one last time before it becomes Indiana Jones.
A Bug's Life
Even though we have official confirmation that the attraction It’s Tough to be a Bug will be rethemed to Zootopia, we still think that this movie and theme work perfectly at Animal Kingdom.
And let’s be honest, Heimlich is the most beautiful butterfly and deserves more representation! While this dress is no longer in stock, we've listed some other options below that will help bring it all together.
Multicolor Puff Sleeve Dress (Another color combo option that would be fun!)
Up
One of the best character interactions at Animal Kingdom is seeing Kevin! Kevin will often roam around the front of the park, greeting guests. You can also meet Russell and Dug on Discovery Island at the Wilderness Explorers Club House! All of these wonderful character meets make Up a perfect outfit theme for Animal Kingdom.
We’ve had a lot of fun planning outfits based around Wilderness Explorers and the balloon house! Kevin is one of our favorite characters to style because of his bright colors.
He's often spotted greeting guests near the front of Animal Kingdom, but we've also seen him wondering around Asia and Dinoland U.S.A.
White & Purple Sneakers (similar option)
Lion King
Disney dads helped make this theme pretty famous with the red Hakuna Matata shirt. And listen, you won’t get any judgment from us, as that was also worn during our first trip together back in 2018. 😆
But, we opted for a more subtle style with this look. We are in love with this custom jacket we found on Poshmark as it still ties in the movies iconic catch phrase, but in a more updated way.
You could also add a button-down shirt to layer over this dress or tie it around your waist for the "winter" months where it's a little more cool at night.

Admittedly, during our first trip to Animal Kingdom, I had little to no interest in visiting this land. I hadn’t seen the movie and didn’t know anything about the attractions. But, I will NEVER forget the first time riding Flight of Passage. You do not have to have any knowledge of the movies to appreciate this land. Joe Rohde is truly a mastermind and has created a space where you want to know more about this fictional environment.
We styled this casual outfit for those of us who might know the pre-show by heart, however, there are plenty of ways to style and plan a theme around this world that don’t involve the attractions.
A plain blue tank top would work as well and if you don't like hats, swap it out for a pair or ears or holographic hair clip!
There are so many other ideas we’ve styled as well. Head on over to our Instagram page, and let us know what else you’d like to see! We hope you have found some inspiration with these looks. If you would like direct links to any of these outfits, you can find them on our Patreon! We also offer customized outfit planning services if you are looking for more personalized options.
And remember, theme park fashion doesn’t have to be complicated, it just has to make you smile!
