Disney’s Hollywood Studios is not to be missed if you’re headed to Walt Disney World during the holiday season. Even though Magic Kingdom typically is the crown jewel at Christmastime. But, we think that Hollywood Studios deserves a lot of love, especially since Disney added a few new holiday offerings. And the best part? You don’t need a separate party ticket to enjoy the festivities!
I will break down what you can enjoy during the day at Hollywood Studios to celebrate the holiday season and of course, what to wear!
Outfit Ideas
I visited this park on November 15th, and honestly, the weather was perfect. The temperature was in the upper 70’s with a breeze, but it’s not always this nice in November in Florida. 😅 I was able to wear a sweatshirt with shorts, which is my ideal outfit during the winter months here, so I was a happy snowman. My sweater is from the FMLYSHOP, which is not going to be carrying theme park apparel anymore, but I will link some alternatives below!
In case you wanted something a little more Hollywood Studios, I put together a look in honor of our girl, Gertie. I love this sweatshirt from 1953 Designs so much. This look helps combine girly vibes with Gertie vibes.
Holiday Overlays
Disney World sometimes hides holiday ride overlays behind a party ticket like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. So, we LOVE that you can enjoy two overlays with a basic park ticket.
For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration
The first offering is A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration. This is already one of my favorite shows and adding a holiday theme just makes it even better. If you’re a fan of the original show, don’t worry! You still get the full story with the incredible Royal Historians and all of the songs, you’re just getting Arendelle ready to celebrate the holidays! The show is extended by 5 minutes, and Olaf makes an appearance as they sing Frozen holiday songs, including my favorite, “When We’re Together”. I loved this addition and think it’s perfect for the holidays for any age!
Sunset Season’s Greetings
If you are sticking around Hollywood Studios during the evening (and you should because the decor at night is amazing!), don’t forget to check out Hollywood Tower of Terror. At night, it comes to life with holiday projections and themes. You never know what scene you might see up on the Tip Top Club!
Special Entertainment
One of the main reasons that Hollywood Studios is my favorite park is because pre-2020, Sunset Blvd was filled with performers such as the Citizens of Hollywood. These street performers would interact with the crowds and provide humor and entertainment when you were tired of standing in long lines. When they didn’t return after the parks reopened, I was a bit sad, as the streets of Hollywood Blvd felt a little empty without them.
So, when Disney announced they were adding holiday street performers back, I was over the moon! When I visited the parks in November, I was able to see two of the performances. One was Season’s Jukebox and the other was the Juggling Elves. Your My Disney Experience App will let you know the times and locations of these performances, although they seemed to be running a little early the day I was there.
Both were fantastic. The Seasonz Jukebox was very interactive. They performed holiday and pop culture songs. Audience participation was highly encouraged, and at one point, they taught little ones dance moves to Taylor Swift's Shake it Off. The performers were very talented, and it was perfect.
Another show I was able to see was the Juggling Elves. While I only caught the end of this, it was SO FUN! These two performers were high energy and incredibly entertaining!
Characters
Hollywood Studios is a wonderful park to meet some characters. And during the holidays, they are dressed in their winter best! I spotted Max, Daisy, Goofy, Jessie, Woody, and Buzz decked out in their holiday scarves and hats.
But, a very special character is also here at Hollywood Studios. Over at It’s a Wonderful Shop, you can meet Santa Claus! This does require a virtual queue reservation, but when I was there on a Friday around 4:00, the queue was open with only a 30 minute wait.
Snacks
We can’t discuss the holidays without discussing snacks. During the day, you can find plenty of festive treats. Make sure you pick up the guide, as this will tell you all the snack offerings found throughout the park.
I opted for the Linzer Cookie Mousse Torte. And let me tell you…I was NOT disappointed! This might be one of the best desserts I have ever had at Disney World. If you are a fan of Disney’s infamous Linzer cookies, do not skip this treat!
Decor
I’m not sure I can even begin to explain how perfectly decorated this park is during the holidays. The vintage vibes combined with holiday magic really hit home for me. While the tree at Magic Kingdom is beautiful, the tree at Echo Lake will always be my favorite.
Echo Lake’s Tree is surrounded by giant ornaments floating in the water, and of course, the iconic Santa Gertie. From the street lamps to the rooftops, almost every inch of this area is festively dressed for Christmas.
Sunset Blvd is also an amazing space to take in some Christmas trees. The windows were absolutely adorable, and the red stars will always be a favorite of mine. While sitting on a bench drinking my coffee, listening to vintage Christmas songs and taking in the scenery, it even started to snoap. 🥹 Pure. Magic.
Toy Story Land also gets some holiday cheer with Woody’s scarf being added to the sign, and even Ham gets in on the action.
And thanks to Jollywood Nights, you can spot Christmas decorations in almost every single section of this park. Each garland is themed to its location, and the details are really sweet.
As you can see, this park is really perfect for celebrating the holidays at Walt Disney World. I hope you’ll visit and see for yourself why it’s so special! If you need any outfits for future trips, be sure to check out our customized services!
