Epic Universe is Universal’s newest addition to the immersive theme park experience. There are five portals that lead to incredibly themed areas, and one of those is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ - Ministry of Magic. Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure are also home to Harry Potter-themed lands, but the Wizarding World at Epic Universe takes on an entirely different time period and story from this beloved series.

Overview of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe
As you approach the portal, you might notice a certain Time-Turner that appears in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. This is letting you know that you are not only about to step into a different world, but a different time period.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is mostly themed around the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them films. This portal focuses on the Secrets of Dumbledore era, which is set in 1920’s Paris.
Even though this is not my favorite IP from the Harry Potter series, this is my favorite addition to the Wizarding World theme park family. That’s because the way this land is designed is absolutely breathtaking. From the second you enter the portal, you truly feel like you’ve arrived in Paris.

The buildings are massive, and I can’t believe that they are hidden from the rest of the park. It’s beyond anything I have ever seen in a theme park and blends immersive theming in the most beautiful way possible!
Rides and Attractions at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Epic Universe
There are only two attractions here at the Wizarding World at Epic Universe. One is a dark thrill ride called Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry. Remember when I said it was mostly themed around 1920’s Paris?

Keep your Time-Turner close, as you will be immediately transported to the 1990’s Ministry of Magic for this attraction. You are attending the trial of Dolores Umbridge, the series’ worst villain, in my opinion.
The minimum height requirement for this ride is 40”, and it is a bit intense. This attraction uses a mix of screens and real sets. You will see many familiar faces from the Harry Potter franchise, as well as a few creatures. The wait time for this attraction tends to be the longest of any attraction at Epic Universe. We waited close to two hours during our last trip.

However, you don’t need to ride the attraction to step foot into the Ministry. There is a separate entrance for guests who don’t want to ride the attraction and can still use the Metro Floo to see the Ministry.
I would highly recommend doing this if you don’t want to wait in line. The grand scale of the Ministry took my breath away, and the Universal Creative Team should be incredibly proud of what they have created for guests.

The other attraction is Le Cirque Arcanus, which is a show under the big top at the center of the portal. This blends a lot of different elements like puppetry and dancing. You will encounter some stunning creatures from the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series, and Newt Scamander also makes an appearance. There is no minimum height requirement for this attraction.
Entertainment and Immersive Details in the Wizarding World at Epic Universe
One of my favorite parts about the Wizarding World at Epic Universe is the live entertainment. On both trips to this park, we encountered so many characters roaming around the land. My husband was stopped by some Wizarding students who talked with him for a while. You can watch that interaction over on our vlog!
We had the most wonderful time chatting with Cosme, the fabulous owner of the wand shop. As we walked out of Le Cirque Arcanus, an undercover detective chatted with us and asked if we had seen any suspicious behavior.
If you’re looking for some live music, you can catch the street band and their adorable creature who makes an appearance.
If you purchased an interactive wand in the past, those will still work throughout this land. There are many marked spaces to practice your magic in Paris. But, if you purchase a new wand from this portal at Cosme’s, you will get to cast even more magic at designated areas.

Also, don’t skip past the details on the walls and windows. Even if you don’t buy a wand, spend some time looking in the different shop windows. There are so many amazing details for the fans who grew up reading the Harry Potter book series.
Where to Eat at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Epic Universe
We have had the wonderful opportunity to eat at many restaurants at Epic Universe, and I must say, the Wizarding World is my favorite place to grab a bite to eat. There are two quick service restaurants located here, but they both feel like fine dining restaurants as far as theme parks go.

If you aren’t familiar with the meaning of “quick service”, this means you aren’t able to make reservations. These are both walk-up restaurants that operate with a mobile ordering system.
Our family much prefers this way of dining, as it takes the stress out of grabbing reservations. You simply find your seat first, then you scan the QR code at your table.

Once you submit your order, a cast member will bring out your order to your table. It’s a seamless process that eliminates you walking around with a tray full of food, trying to find a table while your kids complain about how hungry they are.
Café L’air De La Sirène™ is to the right, near the entrance of the Wizarding World.
This is my favorite spot in all of Epic Universe. Not only is it stunning inside of the Cafe, but the menu is just magnifique.
The menu is French-inspired, but don't let that discourage you if you have a picky palette. We thoroughly enjoyed the Baguette de Dinde and the Steak Haché au Poivre. But the real showstopper is the Butterbeer Crepes. Yes, they are pricey, but they are shareable and will keep you coming back for more.
Le Gobelet Noir™ is the other quick service option that serves more hearty, traditional European cuisine. It’s located around the Place Cachée alleyways where you can also find the residence of one Nicolas Flamel.

This restaurant is perfect for rainy or chilly days in Orlando when you’re craving things like Goulash and Stews. You can also order my absolute favorite drink, which is the Lavender Lemonade.
Speaking of beverages, there are two watering hole locations in the Wizarding World. Bar Moonshine offers adult beverages. This place is TINY and is not really meant to house loads of people.
The line was out the door multiple times throughout our visit, but it does move pretty quickly, so don’t be discouraged by the line. This is also where we spotted the Wizarding students, so you never know who you’ll run into while you’re waiting.

If you’re looking to quench your thirst with a Hogwarts favorite, you can find a Butterbeer cart near La Cirque Carnus. This cart offers both traditional and frozen butterbeer.
What to Wear at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Epic Universe + Best Photo Spots
While it is not necessary to theme your outfit to your day, we of course always think it adds a little more magic to your vacation. Planning Tips for Visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Epic Universe
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Epic Universe is a must-see for Harry Potter fans, but really anyone can enjoy it due to its incredible theming. Epic Universe isn’t a big theme park, so you should have plenty of time to stop by here. But if this is a priority for you, I would make sure to visit first thing in the morning (plus side, this way you get to have breakfast at Cafe Le Siren!).

You can easily spend a couple of hours exploring this magical portal. If you plan on riding the Battle at the Ministry, rope dropping might be your best option for avoiding a long wait.
I would also recommend checking this portal out at night. The creative team did a phenomenal job of bringing the world to life at night with lighting and pure magical details that you can only see and hear when the sun sets.

Hopefully you’ve been able to take some helpful tips away from this post. If you head there on your vacation, I’d love to hear all about your favorite parts in the comments. I hope you have a magical day!
