Untangled Salon on the Disney Wish

One of the biggest perks of booking a Disney Cruise is that so much is included in the base price of your booking. Meals, soda, ice cream, and amazing entertainment are all part of your package. Because of this, my family and I don’t typically participate in extras that cost more money, as we feel we always have enough to do without the extras. But, on our last cruise on the Disney Wish, I decided to venture out and try something new and give the Untangled Salon a chance. 

This was HIGHLY motivated by my daughter’s unruly curly hair. My daughter was born with the most beautiful curls, but unfortunately, she was birthed by a mother who has no idea how to manage them. 

As I started to research the ship, I came across information for the Untangled Salon. Someone had mentioned that they had their hair french braided the first day on the ship and that it was a lifesaver. Even after many years of practicing on my Barbie as a child, I sadly never mastered french braiding, so this information had me very excited. 

There isn’t a lot of information that I could easily find on the Untangled Salon, and honestly, a lot of it was conflicting. There were reports that it was adult-only, and finding how much it cost was also not easy. So, I am here to break it down for you because this is actually something I think is worth the cost! 

Booking the Untangled Salon

Currently, you can only find the Untangled Salon on the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure. No surprise to anyone, we had missed the booking window on the DCL app. Appointments were not showing up, so our plan was to board the ship and head to the salon. If you’re much better at adulting than I am, you may book a time slot during your booking window and after your cruise is paid in full. Booking windows vary greatly, so check with your TA or your app to see your available times. 

To my surprise, we didn’t have any issues grabbing a spot. I had read that appointments were extremely difficult to grab, so I was not optimistic about our chances. But, as we walked in, the place was empty, and we were able to make an appointment the same day. The ONLY downside was that it was very close to the sail away party on the deck. My little one was willing to risk it though, as she was very excited to receive her braids. Now, I would NOT recommend just winging it if this is something that is important to you or your little ones. 

Not only were we able to book an appointment for braids, but I was even able to book a nail appointment at the same time. I have this weird tradition where the only time I paint my nails is for vacation, and I had forgotten to do that before I left. (Can’t imagine why, since packing for a cruise is just no stress at all 😅)

Braids and Polish at the Untangled Salon

When we returned, the process was super easy. The salon itself is gorgeous and offers a variety of spa services such as manicures, pedicures, teeth whitening, and hair care. I was very worried that my daughter’s curly hair wouldn’t really work for the braiding. She also has a very sensitive head, and I was stressed that the entire experience would end up being unpleasant (because stressing out is my specialty).  The cast member was very kind and reassured me she would take good care of her. 

I headed to the nail station that was only a few steps away. The nail technician was wonderful, and I was very happy with the results. I was only receiving polish and am not a nail expert, but it was a very lovely experience. 

It only took about 15-20 minutes for the both of us from start to finish. The process was very efficient, and we were the only ones in the salon during our time. My daughter loved her braids and had zero complaints. She commented that they were a little tight, but not uncomfortable. These braids lasted the entire length of our cruise and were an absolute time-saver for us all vacation. She was able to swim and play each day without having to brush out tangles each night and day. 

Pricing for the Untangled Salon

I can only share the price of the services we received at the salon during our November 2024 cruise. Disney does not list prices on their website, and finding this information can be very difficult. My guess is that this gives Disney the flexibility to change prices as they need, based on a variety of factors. The following is the breakdown of our Untangled Salon prices:

Nail Repolish: $29

Hair Braiding: $29 per braid

The total price for our services during our Very Merry Christmas Time Cruise was $102.66 with tax and gratuity, which is included in your total. The charge goes directly to your room, so no need to worry about a card or cash. 

Is the Untangled Salon worth it?

For us, the Untangled Salon lived up to its name and kept tangles and tears out of our vacation. My nail polish also lasted a couple of weeks, so for us, it was definitely worth the extra money. We even were able to make most of the sail away party, so it was a big win overall!
