What to Wear to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort

When people think of Disney World, they often think of the Magic Kingdom. Cinderella’s castle has become synonymous with Disney’s theming of providing one-of-a-kind vacation experiences for you or your family. But, when it comes to Disney Resorts, there is one place in particular that is also a standalone icon, the Grand Floridian.
Growing up, I assumed it was the only place to stay at Walt Disney World, as it was used in commercials and of course, the best episode of Full House. When we finally got to visit the resort, I was completely in awe of its beauty and well…fanciness. I pictured actual princesses living here, and I wasn’t far off, as this is where Princess Diana stayed with her family when they visited in 1993.
The Grand Floridian will always have a special place in my heart, as it was my mom’s favorite resort, and I was finally able to stay back in 2022. Even though the aesthetic of this resort is not my vibe, it still holds up to its name of being grand, elegant, and worth a visit during your stay. Grand Floridian Mini Wardrobe Capsule
So what is a wardrobe capsule? A wardrobe capsule is “a small, curated collection of clothing and accessories that can be mixed and matched to create a variety of outfits for different occasions”. These items can easily be interchanged to meet your styling preferences and minimize your packing! We have taken the colors and overall aesthetic of the Grand Floridian and added some subtle Disney touches to create the most perfect outfits for all of the activities you might want to do. For each outfit, we will show you how it looks with different hair accessories, as each person tends to prefer different options. We have also sprinkled in a few choices that don’t perfectly fit within the capsule, just to give you more inspiration.
A lot of the items you will see are fast-ship items, which are perfect for anyone looking to put together outfits at the last minute.

Grand Floridian Arrival Day/Resort Day Outfit
When we plan arrival day outfits, we try to keep in mind that it is most likely your travel day. With each arrival day look, we try to incorporate comfort into the outfit so that when you arrive at your resort, you feel refreshed and ready to start your vacation.
The Grand Floridan’s theming is based on the Victorian Era. However, luxury and elegance is also woven into every aspect of this resort. In case your room isn’t ready, this outfit is perfect for grabbing a bite to eat at the Grand Floridian Cafe.
When you enter the main lobby, you’re not hit with a lot of bright colors or Disney IP theming. Everything is subtle and muted tones, so we used that as our inspiration. The pop of color comes from the blues you will see in the newly updated rooms. If you wanted to add in some specific Grand Floridian items, the embroidered baseball hat from Happily Ever After Hrs is an ideal way to rep your favorite resort. Style the hat with your hair down, and you’ll create an effortless and classic travel day outfit. If the hat is still too much, the keychain from Grape Soda Club is a great option, as you can change it out after your trip!
Grand Floridian Pool Day Outfit
Walt Disney World offers quite a few pool choices when it comes to their resorts. The Grand Floridian has two main pools, plus a splash pad type of area for any littles in your group. The Courtyard Pool is a zero-entry leisure pool, which offers a more quiet and relaxed atmosphere, while the Beach Pool is where you will find a 181-ft long waterslide and a cascading waterfall.
This location also has a bar, and the poolside activities take place here. The Alice in Wonderland themed splash pad area is right next door to the Beach Pool and overlooks the Seven Seas Lagoon. It’s really a wonderful place for your rest day on vacation.
One of the most iconic parts about the Grand Floridian is the red gabled roof. We wanted to make sure we tied in this color, as it’s what I think of when I hear anyone mention this resort. Wardrobe capsules are great for keeping your luggage light, which is why we re-used the pants from the travel day outfit for the cover-up option. You don’t necessarily have to bring a pool bag, especially if you are traveling without kids. But, if you do happen to bring the keeper of all the things on your pool day, make sure to pack a bag that will fold down easily. We added the scarf to the bag to tie in more colors of the Grand Floridian because, why not?
Enchanted Rose Outfit for the Grand Floridian
In my opinion, one of the best parts about the Grand Floridian is the variety of dining options. You have everything from excellent quick service dining (I’m looking at you, Gasparilla!) to Michelin star recipient, Victoria and Albert’s. It’s also one of the few places you can enjoy a character meal outside of the theme parks!
But, one of my favorite places is the Enchanted Rose Lounge.
The drinks and small plates are good, but I really love the overall theming and atmosphere of the lounge. It’s elegant, romantic, and a perfect spot for a date night.
Victorian era fashion was filled with beautiful dresses and a lot of layers. Thanks to shows like Bridgerton, coquette types of pieces have made their way into the modern world with beautiful corset-like silhouettes without all of the layers. We loved this dress for so many reasons, but the floral/rose print really makes it a flawless option for this lounge. If you’re wanting to grab some photos for content or just for you, this dress would look so pretty against the backdrop of the buildings on the resort’s grounds!
