Even though we are in the middle of summer, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Oogie Boogie bash are right around the corner. Disney tends to kick off the Spooky Season a little early, starting in August. So even if you’re still soaking in the sun and basking in the summer heat, now is the time to start planning if you have tickets to either of these events! If you are looking for a customized look of your own, you can book with us!Â
These special ticketed events are currently the only time you’re allowed to wear a full-on costume to the Disney Parks if you are 14 years or older. Please make sure to check out our video and blog about Disney’s Costume Rules and Guidelines for these parties!Â
We’ve had the pleasure of styling several costumes over the years for these events, so we thought we would share some past client outfits and costumes that were perfect for these parties. While these outfits work out wonderfully for two people, these can easily be individualized!Â
Most of the costumes we will show you are considered DisneyBounds. If you aren’t familiar with DisneyBounds, be sure to check out the official site of Leslie Kay, who literally wrote the book on what a DisneyBound is!
DisneyBound Costumes can be a great option if you are attending Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party because Florida is still very hot during the fall season! So, DisneyBounding allows you to dress as your favorite character without having to wear a full costume that can sometimes involve lots of layers and be uncomfortable.
Jessica & Roger Rabbit
First up are Jessica and Roger Rabbit. This movie is a cult classic and one that we love, so we were thrilled to help plan this dynamic duo. (If you are also a fan of this movie, be sure to look for Roger Easter eggs in Hollywood Studios!) Styling Jessica Rabbit was a fun challenge, as her outfit tends to be a little more provocative, but we were able to find options that meet Disney’s guidelines! Roger’s outfit is a perfect example of being able to adjust a costume for temperature. While we did give our client traditional red overalls as an option, we also went with a shorts and suspenders combo to give him a cooler alternative for the warm Florida weather!

Captain Hook & Mr. Smee
Next, we have a pair of villains that are perfect for Magic Kingdom, Captain Hook and Mr. Smee. We had so much fun styling this for a husband and wife! Captain Hook is a great example of a DisneyBound win because his actual costume can be quite hot with all of those layers. The other plus side with choosing a DisneyBound versus an actual costume is that you can reuse the pieces in your everyday life. The shirt for Mr. Smee can easily be worn on the weekends, and if you live in a cooler climate, so can the hat. This look can also work for Pirate Night if you are heading on a Disney cruise!

Captain Hook Dress (not the same one but a close dupe!)
Evil Queen & Snow White
And last but not least, we loved planning this mother-daughter look for Oogie Boogie Bash. They wanted to go as the Evil Queen and Snow White. The fabulous Disney Villains can be tricky to style if you are wanting to incorporate items such as their capes or long bell sleeve dresses. As previously mentioned, Disney has rules and guidelines as to what they will allow for costumes. Capes are allowed, but they can’t fall below your waist. Disney also doesn’t allow for garments that drag on the ground. So, this outfit was another fun challenge. We were able to create a look for our client that followed Disney's rules by using a capelet that still shows off the Evil Queen’s style.

If you are looking for an Evil Queen look for yourself, you can check out our Template Shop! These looks are directly linked to the items and ready to go!
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Oogie Boogie Bash are truly a magical time at Disney. The possibilities are endless since you don’t have to wear a Disney-related costume! You also don’t have to wear a costume at all, but dressing up is half of the fun! Let us know if you need any further help, as we love being able to plan for Spooky Season!Â
And remember, theme park fashion doesn’t have to be complicated, it just has to make you smile!Â
